LIMA UK has finalised the panellists for its Legendary Licensing Debate 2013, starting at 5pm on Thursday 16th May at the glamorous 51 Buckingham Gate at Crowne Plaza, St James, London.

The debate follows LIMA’s popular one-day Licensing Essentials Course and kicks off its annual Spring Fling networking party, which last year was attended by over 150 people.

As in previous years, the debate will feature a panel of licensing industry leaders who will take questions from the audience and discuss some of the most pressing issues in licensing today. Kelvyn Gardner, Managing Director of LIMA UK, will host the debate and this year’s panel comprises:
  • Tim Collins, Head of Brands at DC Thompson – the famous Dundee-based company which has been publishing newspapers and magazines for over 100 years.
  • Helen Howells, Joint Managing Director at HoHo Entertainment – children’s TV production and rights management company.
  • Kirsty Barr, Managing Director at mi-comms PR- a full service PR consultancy with many licensing clients.
  • Anna Hewitt, Head of Licensing at Walker Books – the world’s leading independent publisher of children’s books.
  • Eric Huang, Development Director at Mind Candy - an entertainment company that creates extraordinary brands with online games at their heart.
Questions will be free-ranging, but topics that LIMA expects to arise include:
  • Digital platforms for licensing – is the PC dead?
  • The great DTR debate
  • Royalties and guarantees – do we need a new structure in a depressed economy?
  • Is there real substance behind much licensing PR?
  • Can we stop losses through counterfeiters?

Kelvyn Gardner, Managing Director of LIMA UK, said: “Our often noisy and provocative debate draws a crowd and provides an excellent platform to discuss industry trends, news and concerns. Our panellists will lead the discussion and help to draw attention to some of the bigger issues affecting all of us, as well as giving expert opinions.

“Our popular debate is followed by one of the best licensing parties of the year – an opportunity to network and enjoy the luxurious surroundings of this wonderful venue.”

Tickets are now available either for the whole day (including the Licensing Essentials Course) or just for the evening event, which kicks off at 5pm.
