Bombardier Challenger CL-601 / 604 "Luftwaffe"

The Challenger has been designed according to a draft by Bill Lear, engineer of the legendary Lear Jets. 1976 Canadair acquired the rights to build the aircraft and named it CL-600. After the prototype made its first flight on November 8th, 1978 it became obvious that the design had to be revised. Besides other points, the engines were too weak to show the required performances. With new engines of the type General Elelectric CF-34 and the characteristic Winglets the CL-600 was assigned a new name – CL-601 – and replaced its predecessor in 1983.

When the Bombadier Group acquired Canadair 1986 they introduced major changes to the CL-601 in an attempt to meet their customer’s demands for larger business jets. They developed the CL-604 which may bear a weight of 22 tons, thanks to a stronger landing gear and greater tyres. In addition, they opted for the high-performance engine (Type General Electric CF-34-3B). Fuel capacity was extended to 1242 litres for a range of almost 7500 km, thus allowing non-stop flights over long-haul routes such as New York-Moscow or London-Chicago.

NATO-Helicopter NH90

The NH90 is the standard NATO helicopter for the 21st century. It contributes to a great extent to the interoperability of the armed forces of the European and allied nations abroad, within the framework of NATO and UN missions. On 13th December 2006 the first three tactical transport helicopters of the latest generation, the NH90 TTH, were handed over to the Federal German armed forces at the Eurocopter Works at Donauwörth. The German armed forces are the first customer for the NH90. Thanks to its versatility the NH90, which can carry 16 to 20 soldiers plus their equipment, is suitable for all types of land and sea support missions, such as troop transport, amphibious applications, search and rescue (SAR) missions or defence against terrorism.

The twin-engine NH90 has electronic flight control systems that make it the most up-to-date multipurpose helicopter in the world. The NH90 programme, with 400 firm orders to date, is the largest helicopter programme ever established in Europe.
