The Beanstalk Group, the world’s leading brand licensing consultancy, today announced it will be developing a comprehensive line of licensed products targeted to African-Americans for Johnson Publishing Company (JPC), the world’s largest African-American-owned-and-operated publishing company. Specifically, The Beanstalk Group will develop and coordinate brand extension programs for JPC’s distinctive magazines, Ebony and Jet, as well as its Fashion Fair Cosmetics, label in order to increase the brands’ exposure and retail footprint. Beanstalk will leverage the heritage and multi-media platform of the JPC brands to develop relevant and compelling consumer products. The program will allow longtime fans of Ebony, Jet and Fashion Fair to experience the brands in fresh, contemporary ways, while also introducing the brands to new consumers. “The Beanstalk Group is truly honored to work with such iconic, historically significant and successful brands as Ebony, Jet and Fashion Fair Cosmetics,” said Michael Stone, president and CEO of Beanstalk. “JPC is more than a publisher. They are the arbiters of African-American taste, style and culture and as such their brands give inspiration and hope to millions. Together JPC and The Beanstalk Group will develop innovative, stylish and useful products that do the same.” “Through licensing, we hope to strengthen the awareness and readership of our core consumers and loyal readers, and also to engage a younger generation of African-Americans around the world,” said Linda Johnson Rice, President and CEO of Johnson Publishing Company, Inc. “Leveraging the strengths and heritage of each brand, we will develop a unique licensed product program for each. Partnering with The Beanstalk Group was a natural decision given its unparalleled knowledge of our audiences and markets and its experience with countless retail outlets and licensing product categories.” |
