Within the scope of the agreement, the public broadcaster has secured the transmission rights to the adventure series with 52 episodes of eleven minutes each for France, the French Overseas Departments and Territories, Monaco and Andorra. Zigby is based on HarperCollins Children’s Books wildly popular literary character “Zigby, the zebra who trots into trouble“. The story thereby centers on the adventures of zebra Zigby that has a lively imagination and comes up with offbeat ideas – getting him and his and his friends in “trouble”… The preschool program is produced by Australian-based Avrill Stark Entertainment Pty Ltd, Zebra (I) Productions Inc. and Big Animation Pte Ltd in association with ABC (Australia) and Canadian station Treehouse. Completion is scheduled for September 2008. France 5 is the leading French broadcaster of documentaries and magazines and a different channel – offering three rendezvous for the youth: “Debout les Zouzous” in the morning, “Midi les Zouzous” at lunch time and “Bonsoir les Zouzous” in the evening. As a recognized brand, “Les Zouzous” combine educational values, adventure and humor. They create an atmosphere of positive heroes, both funny and endearing. They also offer diversified, rich and innovative animation, intended primarily for preschool children and preschool plus.
