Created by Jim Henson, the show stars a cast of five puppet creatures called Fraggles, diverse and quirky cave-dwelling creatures who live in a high energy world alongside their green ant-like neighbors, the Doozers and the enormous Gorgs. The three very different, but yet surprisingly similar communities learn to live and work in harmony with music, fun and adventures. The Fraggle five were known for their love of singing, dancing and working, spending their time dancing their cares away The show encouraged an understanding and embracing of friendship and diversity and featured a unique mix of music from all genres from folk, blues, gospel, country and rock. With a newly revised online style guide, the characters have received fresh new treatments to their styling using vintage icons, and retro designs. The US has kick-started a high end merchandising programme with a “Fraggle Rock Forever” fashion collection designed by LA designers, Dr. Romanelli and Pascal Mouawad in conjunction with designer to the stars Anita Ko for jewellery. Both lines launched in the exclusive retailers, Kitson in LA and Collette in Paris Christmas 2009. In the UK, the show continues to air regularly on Cartoon Network, and first licensees include Manhattan Toy Company for plush and puppets, Rasta Imposta for dress up, Fashion UK for apparel and Hype for greetings cards. Licensing Manager, Sam Booth says “Ignition is delighted to be representing ‘Fraggle Rock’ and confident that the brand will re-ignite interest from adult fans who loved and grew up with the show originally and appeal to a new generation of kids experiencing it for the first time.” Ignition is in discussion with a number of partners in the areas of Gifting and Collectibles, Stationery, Apparel and Accessories, Publishing and Homewares. |
